Springtime On The Square 1” is a brilliantly colored oil on canvas, depicting the west side of Abbeville’s Historic Square. Juror Bud Bishop, who chose this painting to be included in the 27th Annual Juried Exhibit at the Anderson County Arts Center, stated “This was an extraordinarily strong field: full of variety, surprises, and rewards. The variety is reflected in the final range of choices in media, techniques, and subject matter. In judging, I am influenced by what I perceive to be the challenges each artist sets for him or herself-the difficulty of execution; the originality of idea; the fusion of material and method…..As an artist, I really got pleasure from each of the successful works I included in the exhibition…..As a critic, I can attest that they are all first rate.”

“Springtime On The Square” limited edition (500) three in the series, provides a panoramic view of Abbeville’s charming historic Square. The remaining prints of the series have been donated to the Abbeville Artist Guild, proceeds to go the the Guild's building fund.  The prints may be purchased at the Judson Arce Gallery on Trinity or by calling Judson at 864 391-1485.

Tom Grantham is a native of Abbeville. He graduated Wofford College and he and wife Peggy operate Rosebud Gallery and Studio located on the historic Court Square in Abbeville, South Carolina. After many years of putting his artistic talents on the back burner, his passion for art was revived after a trip to Maine in 1999. Tom has been painting and sculpting regularly since that time.  In October 2009, Tom and Peggy purchased a home on Edisto Island, S.C. and have moved there.  The gallery building is for sale or lease and is a wonderful opportunity for someone to own a historic 1870's building on Abbeville's charming Court Square.  This is a double building, 2 stories, approx 6200 sq ft.  There are incredible views of Court Square, especially from the large 2nd story windows.  Much restoration has been done including removal of the dropped ceiling downstairs to expose the original molded tin ceilings which have been restored.  Carpet and paint/dirt/debris has been removed from the floors where an original mosaic floor with a Greek Key border was discovered on one side.  The same Greek Key border is repeated in the squares surrounding large medallions in the molded metal ceiling.  The sheetrock has been removed from the elevator shaft/surround and replaced with antique windows to allow sunlight to shine down from the second story and light up the first floor.  The lst story back has owners quarters/apt, with a double back entrance, one side with an uncovered patio and the other with a covered patio.  The property extends to the back to include four parking spaces.  The upstairs renovations into a loft residence is well underway and the new owner can finish to their taste/preferences. This building is also one of only two on Court Square that have a front porch.  The gallery building is for sale or lease.. View the photos and pricing of the building at the end of the gallery pages.  Peggy has closed Grantham Properties and placed her license as an associate broker with Carolina One Sea Island Group, at Edisto Beach.  She is also offering yoga lessons there.
